The New Web Site!

Santorini Sunset

We have updated Chwyl.com to enable a quicker turnaround on news and events in our lives. We were finding the 6-12 month delay with the previous version a little long! So, it is our goal to add updates as they happen, and with the recent miracles of the web, we should be able to keep up!

If you don't feel like stopping by all the time, we are also offering an RRS feed.

Welcome Natalie Rose Chwyl

Posted by: , 25 Nov 2008 11:45 am

Natalie Rose was born at 5:25 pm on Saturday, November 22. Pics of our big day are here.

Vital Stats

  • 8 lbs 2 oz
  • 20.5 cm from head to toe
  • brown hair
  • blue eyes
  • eyes: mom
  • nose: mom
  • mouth: mom
  • cheeks: dad

We are so happy, words can not describe it! I think Natalie is near perfect. She is gorgeous, alert and observing everything around her. She is a great eater and a solid sleeper. She has not cried unless she is hungry or we are taking too long changing her and she is getting cold. She loves to cuddle with both mom and pop.

Heather is doing as well one can after going through what she did. Sleep deprivation seems to be the biggest challenge right now. She is natural mom and I am incredibly proud of her.

All is good. Tomorrow Keesha comes home to a strange, new world!

Tick Tock

Posted by: Brian, 16 Nov 2008 4:34 pm

So it's Sunday, November 16 and we are still waiting for our little arrival. The baby is 2 days overdue, but there is no cause for alarm - all is well. Heather's doctor says she will not think about inducing until we are 2 weeks overdue, at which time she will do an ultrasound to see if induction is needed.

While I am here, I thought I would share with you all of the names we have been calling our cute little fetus. For those of you who don't know, we have been naming the baby every week based the size it was for the week. Ultrasound Day

Posted by: Brian Chwyl, 10 Jun 2008 12:30 pm

We just got back from the ultrasound of little baby Chwyl. Overwhelming is probably the best word to describe it - although awesome comes pretty close as well. Everything seems to have gone well, but we have to wait a couple of days before reviewing everything with our doctor.

I guess the baby wasn't very cooperative as he/she was moving a lot and decided to curl up in Heather backwards with his/her butt up by Heather's belly button and head down by her spine. This, and the fact that we are only in week 18, made identifying the sex impossible, so we will be going into the birth not knowing if we are having a boy or a girl. We do know that it has 2 legs and 2 arms, as well as hands, feet, a head with eyes, a beating heart, lungs, diaphram, a bladder and a stomach!

Happy Easter!

Posted by: Brian Chwyl, 01 Apr 2008 11:15 am

Heather and I spent Easter enjoying the company of my mom and our niece, Sonnjea. They drove up from the sunny BC interior and were greeted with mounds of snow on the ground! (and probably started wondering why they ever left home).

We had a great visit. Mom looks hot as the pounds continue to melt off of her, and Sonnjea is so much cooler than I ever was or ever will be. We Rock Banded until we couldn't see straight almost every night. Our band, Dog's Breakfast was anchored by Frantastik on the guitar and Hazmatt on the drums. B Liscious fronted the band on the mic as best he could. Good times.

Thanks for the visit, gals. we will continue our march to superstardom the next time you visit!

We love ya,
Brian, Heather and Keesha

A World of Change for Brian!!

Posted by: Brian Chwyl, 03 Mar 2008 6:41 pm

This has been a life changing day for me - I can hear out of my right ear for the first time, and "HOLY SH*T!!", what a difference! Now, Heather can sit on my right side and whisper sweet nothings in my ear, and I can hear them perfectly. We can have conversations in the car while I drive, and when we aren't talking, I can hear the music clear as a bell.

I find I just sit and listen to the world, and it is fantastic. Of course, my brain has some adjusting to do - all the new sounds are pretty overwhelming at times, and everything seems twice as loud as I am now hearing through twice as many ears!

All of this wonder and joy has been brought to me via my Bone Anchored Hearing Aid or BAHA, which is a new wonder of science. The hearing aid clips to a titanium screw in the back of my skull on my right side. The screw transmits the sound from the BAHA into my skull and my skull transmits the sound into my inner ear - and I hear!

Pics of my implant will be coming soon. For more on BAHAs, read this.

I get all my care from a great team at COMPRU.

Keesha gets new collar.
